From the train, he could see numerous little hills of radiators, slopes in tin, bristling I-beams and spare parts of which Adam had never even dreamt, left nameless. Unsure of what to do with the unnatural valleys, he resolved himself to waiting, waiting for the natural components of the wrought to come again to the surface, for everything to again become what it once was. He would wait a long time.
