VIDANGE. To those born in and of the plains, the wind need not make itself heard in their ears, its presence like that of Leibniz’s waterfall, a constant of which one is in some sense aware but of which one is never conscious, that is, until one leaves the plains and then returns and the wind can be again felt wrapping their person in unseen layers, invisible flows rushing past their ears.
