Dream Theorem 10

December 31, 2013

That the linkage between individual dreamscapes within the dream is either water or on the model of water. It will have been noted in previous dreams that bodies of water often serve the purpose of transporting the individual from one part of the dream to the next. Be this a river connecting two scenes, the weightlessness of floating bodies, the water holding together yet distinguishing two discrete dream areas or that place where the subject goes to drown, water is both at the center and periphery of the dream-logic. In this way, one passes from an accidental linkage of water and dream to a necessary relation according to which the dreamer’s movements might be more properly compared to those of swimming than walking. Indeed, the dream’s very fluidity lends further merit to this hypothesis.

As per Experiments II, XXII, XXIII, XXXI, XXXVII, LXXV, LXXXV, XCVII, CIII, CVII and CVIII.
