8:02 am: If, for Gaston Bachelard, the true dream synthesis is one of depth where mental being joins a greater cosmic reality (L’eau et les rêves, p. 106), then this dream exhibited a similar development in its gradual withdrawal from the intimate to the higher. The receding view of the woods at the dream’s close proves an inverted image of Bachelard’s thesis in that the depths take us not lower but higher.
