It is not hard for me to find in myself something of the lost hummingbird having mistakenly flown into an outbuilding and now uncertain of the way out, seeing no choice but to climb higher, coming to a rest on a wire running through the rafters, unaware that, at this height, food is too far and heart too weak to escape, at last giving out, feet still tight about the wire from which it will hang batlike to mummify slowly.
